1. The Vertical Axis of the Universe: The Vibrational Frequency of Reality
If the previous chapter introduced the possibility of “horizontal” universes—parallel pages in the same book of reality—we will now explore an even deeper idea: the “vertical” structure of the universe. These are no longer pages side by side, but different books arranged on the same bookshelf.
This worldview posits that the universe is layered into countless realms, or planes of existence, differing not just in location, but in the very nature of reality itself. This division is not based on physical space, but on two fundamental factors: the subtlety of matter and the vibrational frequency of energy.
Let’s use a simple metaphor: radio frequencies. Right in the room you are sitting in, countless signals coexist. You don’t hear them not because they aren’t real, but because your radio is not tuned to the right frequency.

Similarly, different realms can coexist with us right here. The most familiar example is the phenomenon commonly known as “ghosts.” According to this worldview, these are the souls of the recently deceased or those who have not yet reincarnated, temporarily existing in a more subtle state of matter, like a form of energy with a vibrational frequency just outside the normal range of human perception. This state might be analogous to the infrared spectrum—invisible to the human eye, but some cameras with sensitive sensors can capture faint images. This could explain why cameras sometimes capture strange images, or why animals like dogs and cats, with different sensory ranges, might bark or act frightened at an empty space.
And perhaps, this also explains a very common phenomenon in many cultures: infants under three months old often cry hysterically at night for no apparent reason. Could it be that their Celestial Eye has not completely closed, so they can still see beings in adjacent realms, scenes that we adults can no longer see, which terrifies them?
These examples show that the realms are not necessarily far away. They can be overlapping, separated by vibrational frequency. Our material realm is just one of countless channels. Higher realms, often called “Heavens,” are described as places with higher vibrational frequencies, where matter is more subtle and lighter. Conversely, lower realms, or “Hells,” have low vibrational frequencies, where matter is dense and heavy.
A being can only exist in and perceive the realm that corresponds to its own internal vibrational frequency. Like a radio, we can only “tune in” to the reality that matches our own state.
2. The Echoes of Heaven in Cultures
If higher realms truly exist, are there any traces of them in the collective memory of humanity? When we compare descriptions of Heaven from major cultures and religions around the world, separated by geography and time, we find a startling consistency.
- The Levels of Heaven: Most belief systems do not describe Heaven as a single place, but as a multi-layered structure. Islam speaks of seven heavens. Judaism and Christianity also have references to different heavens. Buddhism describes a complex cosmology with countless heavenly realms. The recurrence of this “layered” motif suggests that it is not a random fantasy, but may be a reflection of a real structure.
- The Nature of Light: Heaven is always described as a place filled with light—a light that is not glaring, but brilliant and pure. The beings there (Gods, Angels, Bodhisattvas) are also often depicted as having luminous bodies. This aligns perfectly with the idea of a realm with a higher vibrational frequency, where matter becomes more subtle and closer to the energetic nature of light.
- Different Timeflow: Another common motif is that time in Heaven flows differently than on Earth. In the classic work Journey to the West, when Sun Wukong becomes an official in the celestial court, he feels that time there passes in just a few short days. But when he returns to the Flower-Fruit Mountain, he is shocked to discover that over 700 years have passed in the mortal world. Similarly, in the book A Journey to the Western Paradise, a story recorded about a master’s experience, he travels to the Pure Land through meditation. He feels his journey lasted about 20 hours. But upon returning to his physical body in the mortal realm, he is astonished to find that more than six years have actually passed.
Such global similarities, from solemn scriptures to popular myths, are unlikely to be coincidental. It suggests that these descriptions are not products of imagination, but could be “travelers’ reports”—faded memories of beings from those realms, or enlightenments gained by enlightened ones in transcendent states of consciousness.
3. The Physics of Creation: From Idea to World
One of the biggest differences between our realm and higher realms, according to ancient scriptures, lies in the relationship between consciousness and matter. In our world, to create a table, we need an idea, then we must use tools and effort to act upon matter (wood) over a period of time.
But in higher realms, the “lag” between idea and material manifestation seems to shorten, or even disappear. This creative mechanism is also divided into several levels:
- “Creation according to the mind”: In scriptures describing some heavenly realms, the beings there have the ability to use their minds to create what they desire. If they want a castle, a castle appears. However, these creations are described as “shadow images” made of energy, not the fundamental matter of that realm.
- “One thought creates a world”: At extremely high levels, where great Enlightened Beings (like Buddhas or Gods) exist, the creative power is on an unimaginable scale. A single thought from them does not just create “shadow images,” but can create real matter, giving birth to a complete world with mountains, rivers, its own physical laws, and countless beings within it. To the beings living in that world, it is completely real. Our entire universe, from this perspective, might just be the result of a single thought from such a great being.
This difference shows that the higher the realm, the more powerful the vibrational frequency of consciousness, and the more direct and absolute its power to shape matter becomes.
4. The Key to Ascension: Raising Your Own Frequency
If the heavens are real, how does one get there? This map provides a very different answer than science fiction. The journey to higher realms is not a physical journey in a spaceship. A rocket, no matter how fast, is still just moving within the “frequency channel” of this material world.
The only way to reach a higher realm is to raise the vibrational frequency of one’s own being to be able to “resonate” with the frequency of that realm.
So how does one raise their vibrational frequency? The answer lies not in external technology, but in the internal cultivation of one’s character. In this worldview, each moral state corresponds to a vibrational frequency:
- Negative mentalities like hatred, jealousy, greed, and fear are states with low, heavy vibrational frequencies. They produce the black substance of Karma, which pulls a being down to lower realms.
- Positive mentalities like compassion, kindness, patience, and selflessness are states with high, light vibrational frequencies. They produce the white substance of Virtue, which helps to elevate a being to higher realms.
The process of cultivation, therefore, is a process of “spiritual physics”: continuously eliminating low vibrations from oneself and nurturing high vibrations, thereby gradually changing the subtle material nature of one’s own being.
From this perspective, Heaven is not a reward granted after death. It is a state of existence, a real realm in the multidimensional map of the universe. And the gate to enter it is not somewhere far away in the sky. It is right here, in every choice, every thought, and every action we make, right here and right now.
